AW10 Balmain by Christophe Decarnin Bike Chain Belt

When Christophe Decarnin started his tenure as creative director for Balmain in November 2007, he was met with immediate criticism for his exaggerated pricing. Charging high prices for jeans, ornate military-style jackets and Balmain branded T-Shirts. Some consider his work at the couture house to be an extension of the rockstar-chic aesthetic that was popularized by Hedi Slimane, but with a unique militaristic feel, as shown in this belt.

This belt is truly representative of Decarnin's time at Balmain, infusing industrial, military-like qualities into his work and using it as a tool to elevate his collections. Seemingly constructed out of a bike chain, this belt comes in very good condition and surprisingly works well with many different pieces.
