Dirk Bikkembergs was a member of the famous Antwerp Six, a group of graduates who finished their studies at the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts in 1981.
Starting his eponymous label in the late 1980s, he only really started gaining traction during the mid 1990s for his unique utilitarian and military styled designs that often incorporated elements of sports and excercise.
Made entirely of calfskin, they are very sturdy and uniquely shaped, with 4 velcro straps on each boot replacing a regular lacing system, offering a unique feel and style.
This pair of boots comes in good condition considering it turns 30 next year. The only flaw being some of the metal coating (?) on the strap has peeled off. In my opinion it adds a certain charm and marker of its age. Otherwise, they are entirely almost new, with the leather being recently revitalized.
Minor repairs were made to ensure the condition and timeliness of the boots.
